Job summary

POET is seeking a Maintenance Technician for our Shell Rock, IA bioprocessing facility. The role focuses on safe, efficient repair, preventative maintenance and cleaning of plant equipment, with 12-hour shifts and on-call rotation.

You’ll work with boiler systems, water chemistry, DCS operations and Maximo for parts and records, while training others and upholding safety and quality standards. You should have a high school diploma, prior maintenance experience, and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience as Maintenance Technician I or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with fabrication, welding, cutting; repair of pumps, gearboxes, airlocks, fans/blowers, agitator assemblies, and valves; boiler operations and water chemistry; conveyors; PM practices; piping systems; and instrument/electrical work.
• Knowledge reading schematic drawings is helpful.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Maintain boiler and cooling tower systems and perform water testing/adjustments.
• Repair and maintain plant equipment including pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, and electrical components.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
• Operate water filtration and, when needed, the plant's DCS; use Maximo to coordinate materials and document tasks.
• Train new team members and support management to fix unsafe conditions.
• Maintain a clean, safe facility and support sanitation and quality programs.
