Job summary

AeroVironment Inc. in Dayton, Ohio, seeks a Fermentation Laboratory Technician to support biomanufacturing and process development. You will operate and maintain fermentation systems, prepare media, run analyses, and document results under established procedures.

Responsibilities include maintaining equipment, ensuring safety, and performing tasks with limited supervision while collaborating with the Technical Lead and team to meet program goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in life sciences or related engineering field, or four (4) years of relevant hands-on experience in a lab or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions, technical procedures, and established protocols.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to document laboratory activities clearly.
• Ability to execute tasks independently according to established processes and protocols.
• Basic math skills including unit conversions and calculator use.
• Ability to follow lab safety requirements and procedures for handling biological and chemical materials.
• Ability to solve problems that are atypical or infrequent.

Responsibilities

• Provide general laboratory support, including housekeeping and keeping a clean, safe workspace.
• Maintain and operate fermenters and related systems per established processes and safety rules.
• Prepare solutions and media using documented protocols with accuracy and traceability.
• Operate laboratory analyzers and instrumentation and document results.
• Perform aseptic operations with BSL-1 organisms as instructed.
• Document operations, equipment use, conditions, observations, and results.
• Execute lab and biomanufacturing tasks independently using approved processes.
• Operate high-energy equipment following safety and protocols.
• Comply with health, safety, and site procedures.
