Job summary

Merck is seeking an Associate Specialist, Engineering within the BTS team to support vaccine and biologics process development and production on manufacturing runs. The role collaborates with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality and R&D in a multidisciplinary setting.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in vaccine/biologics manufacturing or a Bachelor's in related fields and demonstrates strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 5+ years experience in the vaccine or biologics manufacturing sector.
• Bachelor's degree in Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry, Protein Chemistry, Microbiology or a related applicable field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work independently; strong teamwork; and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support small, medium and large-scale bioreactor runs.
• Support and execute lab experiments and assays.
• Organize and maintain BTS labs and inventory (5S).
• Work in a safety-first mindset.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality and R&D colleagues.
• Occasional after-hours or weekend work to execute experiments.
• Learn and apply bioprocessing principles (DOE, data analytics).
