Job summary

KCAS Bio in Kansas City, MO is seeking an Associate Scientist to support bioanalytical study execution and data generation. You will handle sample prep, reagent handling, and assay runs with guidance, contributing to method development and validation under GLP.

You will ensure data integrity, document results, and communicate progress to senior staff while mentoring junior teammates as needed in a fast-paced CRO setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or related field with 1–3 years of experience in a bioanalytical laboratory environment.
• Hands-on experience working in a GLP-regulated laboratory environment (required).
• Experience with ligand binding assays (LBA) such as ELISA, MSD, or similar immunoassay platforms.
• Working knowledge of assay workflows including sample preparation, reagent handling, and plate-based assays.
• Basic understanding of assay performance characteristics (precision, accuracy, sensitivity, selectivity).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work within SOP-driven and regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Execute assigned study activities including sample preparation, reagent preparation, and assay execution with moderate supervision
• Support method development, qualification, and validation activities and begin contributing to assay optimization
• Perform data processing and prepare data summaries for review by senior scientists
• Troubleshoot routine assay or instrumentation issues and elevate more complex challenges appropriately
• Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with study protocols, SOPs & GLP regulatory requirements
• Ensure proper sample identification, handling, and tracking in accordance with GLP standards
• Communicate study progress, risks, and timelines to senior staff
• Provide informal support and guidance to junior staff as needed
• Perform all aspects of the job in a way that supports company brand and supports company mission, vision, and values
