Job summary

Kitware seeks a Biomedical Modeler to join the Computer Vision team. You will develop computational models of biological systems, create patient‑specific models from medical imaging data, and design biomechanical simulations.

You will collaborate with engineers, AI researchers, clinicians, and domain scientists to validate models and integrate them into research software. The role emphasizes collaboration, publication, and contributing to open source software while advancing medical imaging,

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with 2+ years of experience or PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computational Biology, Applied Mathematics, Bioengineering, or related field.
  • Experience modeling the human body with computational or mathematical models.
  • Proficient in C++ or Python, with C++ preferred.
  • Experience with scientific computing and numerical methods.
  • Familiarity with medical imaging and image processing.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and teamwork ability.
  • U.S. citizenship and willingness/ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop computational and mathematical models of human physiology.
  • Create patient‑specific models using imaging data (CT, MRI, ultrasound, etc.).
  • Design and implement biomechanical, physiological, or multi‑physics simulations.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to integrate models into research software.
  • Validate models with experimental or clinical data.
  • Work with clinicians and sponsors to understand requirements.
  • Publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals and present at conferences.
  • Contribute to Kitware's open source ecosystem.
