Job summary

Computercraft is seeking a Scientific Reviewer to support the National Library of Medicine at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. This full-time, hybrid position evaluates the scientific and editorial quality of scholarly articles for MEDLINE and PubMed Central.

The role involves reviewing journal applications, providing written feedback, and contributing to SOPs and policy development while applying current biomedical research practices.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in biomedical science.
• Three years of experience conducting biomedical research, including designing research studies and analyzing data.
• Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Review scholarly articles to assess scientific and editorial quality for MEDLINE/PMC inclusion.
• Prepare written feedback for journal applicants explaining concerns and areas for improvement.
• Triaging journal applications, verifying completeness and basic information, and contacting applicants for clarification.
• Review comments and evaluations for factual accuracy, relevance, and supporting evidence.
• Contribute to development and revision of policies and SOPs for journal evaluation.
• Provide subject-matter expertise on NLM journal selection policies in meetings with external stakeholders.
• Provide subject-matter expertise on current biomedical research practices and best practices in scholarly publishing.
