Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist (Information Systems) to maintain and secure networked medical devices across the medical center. You will ensure system integration, device connectivity, and reliable clinical operations, coordinating with IT and clinical teams.

The role requires expertise in HL7, DICOM, cybersecurity, and medical device interfaces, with responsibilities spanning testing, validation, and documentation to support patient care.

Qualifications

• Education/ certification required or documented with application.
• Experience with networked medical devices and healthcare tech preferred.
• Knowledge of HL7 and DICOM standards required.

Responsibilities

• Oversees support, maintenance, and integration of networked medical devices.
• Manages cybersecurity including patching, antivirus protections, and standards compliance.
• Configures and troubleshoots device network components (VLANs, IP addressing).
• Supports medical device servers, databases, software, HL7/DICOM interfaces, and middleware.
• Collaborates with OIT, biomedical engineering, clinical services, and vendors to resolve issues.
• Conducts system testing, device validation, lifecycle management, and upgrades.
• Maintains documentation, inventories, configuration records, and compliance reporting.
