Job summary

The Marion, IL VA Medical Center seeks a Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist (BESS) to maintain and troubleshoot medical devices and clinical systems. You will work within the Facilities Management Service to support the medical equipment management program, performing planned maintenance and coordinating with clinical staff.

Applicants may be referred pending education or licensure requirements but cannot be hired until all requirements are met.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in biomedical tech/engineering required.
• Alternative degrees with 1 year of creditable experience acceptable.
• Eligible for VA certification requirements and training programs.
• Proficiency in English per 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f).

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and performs planned maintenance on medical devices.
• Supports medical equipment management program within Facilities Management.
• Documents services in CMMS system.
• Assists with equipment operating and maintenance procedures.

Education

Certification CBET/CRES/CLES/CHTM
