The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Hampton VA Medical Center seeks a Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist (BESS) to manage the lifecycle of medical equipment and provide technical support for patient care systems.

You will use standard test equipment and maintain documentation in CMMS, collaborating with supervisors and engineers. Entry-level through senior milestones are defined by VA standards as you gain experience.

Qualifications

• Education or certs meeting VA standard for BESS.
• Various paths include biomedical tech, electronics/IT, or DOD HTM programs.
• Certification or grandfathering provisions may apply.

Responsabilités

• Assist lifecycle management of medical systems and equipment.
• Operate test equipment: meters, analyzers, simulators, scopes, and meters.
• Document services in CMMS per HTM guidelines and policies.
• Investigate recalls and safety alerts within set timeframes.
• Identify hazards and report to supervisor for corrective action.
• Develop professionally in medical technology lifecycle management.
• Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; Telework not available.

HTM certificate program without internship + 1 year experience

Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) or CRES/CLES/CHTM
