Job summary

Mercyhealth Freeport Hospital in Freeport, IL seeks a Biomedical Equipment Technician to oversee maintenance and repair of medical equipment, ensuring safety, reliability and availability for patient care. The role includes supervising staff, managing work schedules and equipment records, and coordinating projects.

You will work with leadership and customers to improve operations, maintain the CMMS database, and participate in training.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Bio-Medical Engineering/Electronics or related degree, or Military Bio-Medical related certification.
• In lieu of a degree, 2-3 years of direct Bio-Medical experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Reviews work orders and preventive maintenance tasks to determine work priorities.
• Schedules repair, maintenance and installation of machines, tools, and equipment by self-performance and delegation of work assignments.
• Directs maintenance activities on biomedical equipment to provide the highest standards for safety, quality, and availability of medical equipment.
• Manages CMMS database.
• Coordinates special projects.
• Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations.
• Directs training of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with Mercyhealth policies and procedures.
• Confers with Leadership, customers and quality assurance staff to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of work performance and equipment.
• Assists Manager in preparation of department budget and monitors expenditure of funds in budget.
