Job summary

Avera McKennan Hospital is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician 1 to repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect medical equipment across a range of devices. You will support life support and standard clinical equipment, ensuring reliability and safety.

The role requires an Associate's or equivalent in electronics or biomed equipment tech and at least one year of related experience, with some IT interfaces and VLAN knowledge preferred. On-site shift, with potential travel.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or military equivalent in electronics or biomedical equipment technology is required.
  • Minimum of one year related experience in repair and maintenance of medical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect medical equipment, instrumentation, and systems of simple to moderate complexity.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices, and systems.
  • Maintain documentation on new equipment, inspections, repairs, and failures; assist with third-party repairs.

Work where you matter.A Brief OverviewProven success in continued service of a diverse array of medical equipment, with the majority involvement with lower acuity equipment, and introductory knowledge of higher acuity devices. In addition, a Biomedical Engineering technician 1 must have some understanding of and working knowledge interconnected systems VLAN, isolated networks, and IT systems interfaces. Some overnight travel may be necessary due to the nature of the job and training requirements.What you will doRepair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect medical equipment, instrumentation, and systems of simple to moderate complexity. This includes life support equipment.Perform preventative maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices, and systems. Diagnoses and corrects system and equipment malfunctions.Maintain documentation on new equipment, inspections, and equipment repairs and failures. Assist with and evaluate third-party repairs.Provide technical assistance and instruction to clinical and operational staff regarding equipment operations and maintenance.Maintain documentation of all service events, tests, and maintenance performed on biomedical equipment.Review outcome of preventive maintenance actions and make recommendations to department staff concerning improvements.Maintain accurate inventory, tracking both the addition and the deactivation of biomedical equipment.Collaborate with other biomedical equipment technicians. May assist with in-service educational programs on use of equipment.May assist other biomedical engineering technicians with more complex PMs and repairs.Essential QualificationsThe individual must be able to work the hours specified.
