Biologist - Remote Desktop Analyst Coordinator (Field Based)

Position Overview

ERM is hiring a Biologist - Remote Desktop Analyst Coordinator to join our Impact Assessment Environmental Clearance team. This remote position is based in the Western US, preferably California. The role involves collaborating with a team of natural resources specialists to provide environmental review and constraints analysis of biological and waters resources for construction sites in Southern California. It is a full-time, fixed-term position for 1 year with potential renewal.

Responsibilities

1. Conduct desktop reviews for environmental clearance using biological and water resource expertise.
2. Perform desktop-based environmental constraints analysis to identify necessary environmental avoidance and minimization measures.
3. Ensure work complies with ERM's management standards.
4. Follow established processes while identifying opportunities for process improvements.
5. Process data using Microsoft Excel.
6. Learn and operate the client’s Work Management Systems independently.
7. Adhere to ERM’s safety protocols.
8. Use ArcGIS Online for desktop constraints analysis, understanding digital resource layers.

Minimum Requirements

1. BA/BS or Master’s in a natural science discipline.
2. At least 2 years of field experience in California habitats, preferably Southern California.
3. Ability to obtain client background clearance.
4. Proficiency in Excel, MS Word, and online data systems.
5. Excellent time management and organizational skills.
6. Strong safety commitment and communication skills.
7. Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
8. Demonstrated teamwork, initiative, and versatility.
9. Ability to work outdoors in variable weather and challenging terrain.
10. Knowledge of GPS technologies and map interpretation.
11. Attention to detail in documentation.
12. Valid driver’s license.

Additional Information

The annual base pay ranges from $59,094 to $71,763, depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include paid time off, medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and insurance. This role is benefits-eligible for employees working 20+ hours/week.
