Job summary

Novartis Biologics Center in Cambridge, MA seeks a Principal Scientist I/II to lead formulation development for mAbs, multispecifics, and ADCs. You will steer strategies early in development and mentor a team of 10+ scientists, shaping developability and supporting candidate selection.

You will partner with CMC, apply advanced analytical methods, and drive high-throughput screening. A PhD plus hands-on leadership in protein formulations is required.

Qualifications

• PhD in biochemistry, biotechnology, chemistry, or related field with 2+ years of industry experience.
• Proven leadership, coaching, and team development experience.
• Hands-on protein formulations and biophysical property assessment experience.
• Experience designing preformulation studies and stability-indicating assays.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute formulation screening strategies for large-molecule therapeutics, with emphasis on mAbs.
• Lead studies to identify stable formulations and communicate results to cross-functional teams.
• Manage resources, timelines, and deliverables with a customer-focused mindset.
• Provide leadership and direction as the functional manager.
• Collaborate with CMC to advance clinical candidates and support drug product development.
• Develop stabilization strategies for liquid, frozen, and lyophilized drug products.
• Apply biophysical and analytical methods and interpret data for development decisions.
• Work with automation teams on high-throughput screening and characterization.
