Biological Sciences Undergraduate Intern
Job Overview:
The Plant Physiology Lab seeks a dedicated anddetail-oriented student worker to assist with a range of laboratory andresearch tasks. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in plantphysiology and be willing to learn new techniques and protocols.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily laboratory tasks including cleaning andmaintaining equipment, preparing solutions, and managing inventory oflaboratory supplies.
- Participate in setting up, conducting, and documentingexperiments under the supervision of the supervisor.
- Particularly,participate in transgenic plant production and maintenance after training.
- Use lab software for data entry, analysis, andpresentation.
- Assist with the care and maintenance of plants in the laband greenhouse.
- Follow all laboratory safety procedures and protocols.
- Attend lab meetings and contribute to discussions onresearch findings and project progress.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a biology or related degree programat ESU.
- Prior lab experience or coursework involving plantbiology or physiology is preferred but not required.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer skills including familiarity withMicrosoft Office suite and ability to learn lab-specific software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to lift, pull, or push up to 25 pounds and perform tasksrequiring manual dexterity.
Additional Information:
- Hourly Rate $7.25
- This position requires a commitment of at least 3 hours perweek. The schedule is flexible. Some weekend and evening hours may be requireddepending on the needs of the laboratory.
