Job summary

The Indiana Biosciences Research Institute (IBRI) invites students to join an internship focused on bioinformatics, imaging data, and computational biology. Interns will support real research projects and learn from scientists and data professionals.

The program runs May 17, 2027 to August 6, 2027, with a 35-hour work week. A stipend of $9,650 will be paid in bi-weekly installments across the program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; enrolled in a bachelor’s program in bioinformatics or related field.
• Coursework or hands-on experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, or data analysis.
• Programming or scripting experience in Python, R, or similar languages.
• Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
• Interest in bioinformatics, enabling technologies, and pediatric rare disease research.

Responsibilities

• Support high-content imaging projects and image-based data analysis.
• Help organize and analyze large datasets from cellular images.
• Use Python, R, or similar tools to process data and create summaries.
• Improve documentation so analyses are clear and reproducible.
• Work with research teams to turn data into useful insights.
