The Indiana Biosciences Research Institute (IBRI) invites motivated undergraduates or graduates from Indiana universities to join its Summer Internship Program as Computational Chemistry Research Interns. You will engage in data‑driven projects supporting translational science and biomedical innovation.

Program runs May 17, 2027 – August 6, 2027, with stipends totaling $9,650 for the full program, disbursed bi‑weekly. Schedule is 35 hours per week, and commitment to the full duration is required.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in (or recently graduated from) an Indiana university undergraduate and/or graduate program OR having graduated from an Indiana High School.
• Degree in a field related computational chemistry research.
• Experience in molecular dynamics or quantum chemical simulations.
• Familiarity with the Linux command line.
• Familiarity with working in high‑performance computing environments is a plus.
• Strong programming skills in scripted languages such as Python.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment.
• Interest in computational biology/chemistry, biomedical data science, or translational research.
• Commitment to the full duration of the internship.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Construct, run, and analyze molecular dynamics of biological systems and/or quantum chemical simulations of small molecule ligands.
• Assist with modeling, machine learning, or workflow automation projects.
• Create graphs and summaries that make data easier to understand.
• Document code, methods, and results clearly for the team.
• Share progress in meetings and collaborate with experimental scientists.
