Job summary

BioMarin is seeking a Scientist II, Bioconjugation Chemist, to join our Bioconjugation Chemistry team in the San Rafael area. This role focuses on designing and synthesizing bioconjugates, including ADCs and AOCs, with a strong emphasis on organic synthesis and analytical validation.

The ideal candidate has a Ph.D. in chemistry or biochemistry and 3–5 years of postdoctoral or industry experience in bioconjugation, with solid skills in HPLC, LC-MS, and related characterization methods.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry with a focus on bioconjugation techniques and organic synthesis.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of postdoctoral experience or industry experience in bioconjugation chemistry.
• Proven track record designing and synthesizing bioconjugates, including AOCs and peptide conjugates.
• Strong knowledge of analytical techniques for characterizing bioconjugates.

Responsibilities

• Engage in project team discussions, providing subject matter expertise for research projects and new methodologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive project success in bioconjugation.
• Design and synthesize bioconjugates such as antibody-oligo conjugates and peptide conjugates.
• Develop and optimize conjugation methodologies and purification processes.
• Characterize bioconjugates using HPLC, LC-MS, SDS-PAGE, and spectroscopy.
