Job summary

MacroGenics is seeking a Scientist I/II in Rockville, MD, to join the Targeted Therapeutics Group. You will design, synthesize, characterize, and optimize antibody‑drug conjugates (ADCs), degrader‑antibody conjugates (DACs), and related modalities, driving discovery through preclinical development.

You will perform conjugation experiments, develop bioconjugation processes, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to advance ADC programs toward clinical development.

Qualifications

  • Experience with purification and characterization techniques for small molecules and bioconjugates.
  • Strong understanding of protein chemistry, antibody structure, and conjugation methodologies.
  • Experience operating analytical instruments: HPLC, UPLC, LC-MS, SEC, and HIC.
  • Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing within cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented and well organized with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute antibody conjugation experiments using linker-payload technologies.
  • Develop and optimize bioconjugation processes for ADCs, DACs, and related therapeutics.
  • Synthesize and optimize novel linker-payload molecules for next‑generation ADCs.
  • Purify, characterize, and analyze synthesized molecules using analytical techniques.
  • Evaluate conjugation efficiency, DAR, aggregation, stability, and product quality.
  • Contribute to troubleshooting, process optimization, and scale-up activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance ADC programs from discovery to clinical stages.
  • Author protocols, research reports, and IP documents with high-quality electronic records.
