Job Summary:
Bindery Operator II will either assist in the setup and operation of perfect bind pockets and/or set up and run the various offline equipment throughout the department.
Essential Functions:
- Be able to perform all Bindery assistant job duties.
- Assist in machine set-up and operation of offline equipment or perfect bind pockets.
- Included in this process is setting up and fine tuning pockets, stackers, set up and monitor calipers, and inspect working parts to ensure machine is functioning properly.
- Use, maintain, and support Lean activities such as 5s, TPM tasks, and MDI.
- Assist with maintenance and lubrication and replacement of worn parts on applicable equipment.
- Follow all required safety procedures such as PPE's, Ergonomics, Chemical Hazards, etc. Perform job in a manner that protects the health and safety of all employees.
- Perform knife changes on applicable equipment.
Move product into and away from the binder. Assist with agency employees. Other duties as directed.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Must be able to use hands for a variety of repetitive material handling tasks about 90% of a 10-hour shift.
- Must be able to constantly stand for up to 10 hours.
- Lifting between eight and 50 pounds from waist level and carry at waist level up to four feet on a frequent basis.
- Lifting between eight and 50 pounds from waist level and carry at waist level up to four feet and lift above shoulder height and place it on a stack on an occasional basis.
- Pick up, grasp and turn/rotate 4 to 8 pound handfuls of product on a constant basis.
- Kneel and squat to do work on an occasional basis.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma.
- Willing to be trained to be the second operator for bindery equipment.
- Prior experience on bindery equipment is preferred but not required.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Be a qualified Inspector level II or possess commensurate experience.
- Must be able to use hands for a variety of repetitive material handling tasks about 90% of an 8-hour shift.
- Must be able to regularly lift and move materials weighing between five and 50 pounds.
- Demonstrates a conscious concern for quality.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Basic math and calculations.
