Summary
Set up and operate machines to manufacture capsules.
Duties
- Perform set-up, sanitation, operation, and routine maintenance of capsulation machines.
- Clean machines, related equipment, and work areas after each batch and at the end of the day, using water, solvents, and other cleaning aids.
- Ensure sanitation by cleaning equipment after and between runs, report issues, and complete all cleaning logs.
- Review line and adjacent areas for cleanliness and obstruction, using “Clean” and “Dirty” tags as necessary.
- Read work orders and Master Manufacturing Record to determine production specifications.
- Pour, scoop, or dump specified mixtures into machine sections prior to operation.
- Adjust machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, temperatures, and material flow to meet specifications.
- Adjust machinery to match capsule sizes specified in production documents.
- Perform test runs to ensure proper setup.
- Examine, measure, weigh, or test sample capsules for conformance.
- Clean, oil, and make minor adjustments or repairs to machinery.
- Count and record finished and rejected items.
- Monitor machine operations for quality and conformity.
- Sort, grade, weigh, and inspect capsules, adjusting product weight as needed.
- Remove defective capsules.
- Stop or reset machines during malfunctions, clear jams, and report issues.
- Record production data such as meter readings and quantities.
- Clean storage containers for finished capsules.
- Transfer capsules to drying or storage areas.
- Ensure capsules are covered during storage.
- Assess quality control and operational procedures continuously.
- Meet or exceed production goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Comply with all rules and regulations in the Employee Handbook and Safety Manual.
- Complete all duties within required time frames.
- Follow SOPs, GMPs, safety rules, and health guidelines.
- Communicate with supervisors as necessary.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; 1-2 years related experience preferred.
- Commitment to excellence and high standards.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of production processes and quality control techniques.
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with machines and tools.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities.
- Good judgment and decision-making skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to perform physical labor.
- Proficiency in workplace language(s); bilingual skills a plus.
- Forklift certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent walking, kneeling, bending, standing.
