Job summary

Walton & Company, headquartered in York, Pennsylvania, seeks a Virtual Mechanical Designer to support engineers and project managers by using CAD, 3D BIM modeling, and laser scanning to develop and coordinate drawings for commercial and industrial HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong VDC/BIM coordination background, with mechanical aptitude and design potential to grow under the Engineering Department's guidance, providing opportunities to expand beyond

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or completion of a technical/trades school in CAD, drafting, Mechanical design, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of five years of relevant work experience.
• Strong understanding of commercial and industrial HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Fabrication CAD MEP, Navisworks Manage and Revit.
• Proficient in Bluebeam and Microsoft Office.
• Solid understanding of drafting techniques, construction drawings, and engineering terminology.
• Strong mathematical aptitude for mechanical design calculations.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Work from construction drawings, sketches, specifications, scanned images, and other project documentation to develop accurate mechanical designs and drawings.
• Develop mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and piping design concepts and solutions under engineering supervision; align with client needs and project requirements.
• Analyze blueprints and construction documents and perform HVAC, plumbing, and piping calculations to support accurate designs.
• Coordinate designs and drawings with other trades and systems; resolve clashes and constructability concerns.
• Conduct site surveys and travel to industrial/commercial sites to gather field information for design and coordination.
• Coordinate with vendors for equipment selection and project information.
• Provide virtual design support and technical assistance to Engineers, Project Managers, designers, and field personnel throughout the project lifecycle.
• Offer technical guidance to Virtual Design Technicians and Virtual Design Assistants.
• Participate in project coordination and progress meetings.
