Job summary

McKinstry seeks a BIM Professional in Portland, OR to join the Engineering and Design division. The role focuses on providing BIM documentation and support for Structural projects, translating ideas into coordinated drawings, managing Revit families, and collaborating with project leaders.

Expect to coordinate with engineers and PMs, develop complex models, and promote best practices in Revit while maintaining current BIM standards across multiple projects.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of BIM or construction industry experience.
• Proficient in Revit, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD; Tekla and/or Advanced Steel preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction documents and print reading.
• Ability to interpret engineering markups, calculations, and sketches.
• Demonstrated attention to detail with accuracy and quality.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with clients, engineers, project managers, and BIM staff to complete tasks.
• Meet deadlines set by internal and external clients.
• Define scope, hours, and deliverables for each assignment.
• Collaborate with engineers and project teams to produce documents.
• Draft and update modeling tasks and resolve modeling conflicts.
• Communicate technical information across disciplines.
• Work both independently and in teams to meet multiple deadlines.
• Build positive relationships with field personnel.
• Develop modeling skills and understand building systems.
• Organize the BIM environment and related documents.
• Promote best practices to improve Revit productivity.
• Assist in developing complex models and coordination.
• Support departmental initiatives and teamwork.
• Grow technical skills through training and responsibility.
• Produce detailed Revit models and drawing sets.
• Manage CAD/Revit plans across projects with deadlines.
