Job description

We are seeking an experienced BIM Modeler / Electrical Detailer to support commercial electrical construction projects through 3D modeling, detailing, coordination, constructability review, and field installation planning.

The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience developing electrical BIM models for commercial construction and is highly proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks. This position will work at the intersection of design and field execution, partnering with project management, estimating, engineering, BIM/VDC, prefabrication, and field teams to develop accurate, coordinated, and installation‑ready models and drawings.

The successful candidate will be comfortable identifying coordination issues, resolving constructability challenges, and translating design intent into practical solutions that support efficient field installation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and update detailed BIM models for commercial electrical construction projects.
  • Model electrical systems including conduit, cable tray, electrical equipment, supports, sleeves, penetrations, and related components.
  • Produce shop drawings, coordination drawings, installation layouts, spool drawings, and prefabrication packages as required.
  • Perform clash detection and coordinate electrical systems with structural, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, architectural, and other trades.
  • Review electrical drawings, specifications, contract documents, and design models to identify discrepancies, conflicts, and constructability concerns.
  • Participate in BIM/VDC coordination meetings and collaborate with project stakeholders to resolve clashes and design issues.
  • Incorporate approved RFIs, submittals, design changes, and field revisions into project models.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Estimators, Superintendents, Foremen, and field personnel throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop accurate, practical, and field‑ready models and drawings that support installation and prefabrication.
  • Provide BIM, layout, and drawing support to field teams during construction.
  • Assist with constructability reviews and identify opportunities to improve installation sequencing and field efficiency.
  • Maintain model accuracy and coordinate updates throughout construction.
  • Assist with as‑built documentation and final project model deliverables.
  • Ensure BIM deliverables meet project specifications, coordination requirements, and company standards.
  • 3+ years of experience as a BIM Modeler, Electrical Detailer, VDC Designer, Electrical Revit Modeler, or similar role.
  • Commercial electrical construction experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience developing BIM models for commercial electrical systems.
  • Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
  • Strong understanding of electrical construction, including conduit routing, cable tray, electrical equipment, supports, sleeves, penetrations, and installation methods.
  • Hands‑on experience with BIM/VDC coordination, clash detection, and multi‑trade coordination.
  • Ability to accurately interpret electrical drawings, specifications, architectural plans, and construction documents.
  • Strong understanding of electrical constructability and field installation requirements.
  • Ability to translate design intent into accurate and practical installation‑ready models.
  • Experience supporting prefabrication or spool drawing development is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to model and drawing accuracy.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in BIM, drafting, electrical design, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Paid time off and company holidays.
  • Career advancement and professional development opportunities.
  • Stable pipeline of commercial electrical construction projects.
  • Opportunity to work with advanced BIM/VDC and prefabrication technology.
  • Exposure to complex commercial projects and full project lifecycle coordination.
  • Collaborative, team‑oriented work environment.
