Job summary

Render is seeking a Software Engineer, Billing to design, implement, and operate usage-based billing systems at scale. You will collaborate with Finance, Product, and Support Engineering to ensure accurate billing, reliable reporting, and seamless integration with third‑party platforms such as Orb, Metronome, or Stripe.

You will tackle large databases and data pipelines, monitor performance, and contribute to architectural decisions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience building or operating usage-based billing systems.
• Hands-on experience integrating third-party billing systems such as Orb, Metronome, Stripe, or similar.
• Strong expertise in Go and production-grade databases (SQL or NoSQL).
• Ability to work across Finance, Customer Experience, and Product teams.
• Detail-oriented with ownership and accountability in mission-critical systems.

Responsibilities

• Build, operate, and improve Render’s usage-based billing systems.
• Integrate with and maintain third-party billing systems (Orb, Metronome, Stripe).
• Collaborate with Finance, Product, and Support Engineering to ensure accurate billing and reporting.
• Work with large-scale databases and data pipelines to capture, transform, and reconcile usage data.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve billing reliability and performance.
• Contribute to architectural decisions about how billing integrates with the Render platform.
