Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Billing Specialist to join a nonprofit healthcare organization serving Utah and the Mountain West. This is a contract-to-hire role onsite in Salt Lake City, UT, offering stable career growth and a track record of promoting from within.

You will handle premium billing inquiries, payments, and online billing tools, provide excellent member service, and ensure secure handling of information while collaborating with other departments to resolve issues.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• A friendly phone voice and strong communication skills — no healthcare experience required!
• At least 1 year of customer service experience.
• "growth mindset" — someone excited to eventually take on more responsibility, including escalated calls, rather than just doing the minimum.

Responsibilities

• Provide top-notch customer service while helping members with premium billing questions — from routine account inquiries to payment processing.
• Handle a mix of inbound and outbound calls, including helping members understand their bills, take payments, and enroll in online billing/payment tools.
• Notify members of delinquent accounts and guide them through reinstatement requirements when needed.
• Research and resolve issues on the spot whenever possible, following up promptly when more digging is required.
• Keep member information secure and confidential at all times.
• Partner with other departments to get member accounts corrected quickly.
• Learn the ins and outs of billing policies so you can give accurate, confident answers every time.
