Socket.dev is seeking a Billing Specialist Supervisor in St. Louis, MO.

You will lead a team responsible for the collection, posting, and management of account payments, while overseeing commercial insurance billing processes to ensure timely submissions and accurate reimbursements. The role requires strong leadership, detailed knowledge of medical billing, and excellent communication and customer service skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in health or human services, business, psychology, or a related field; OR
• High school diploma with coursework in typing and business practices.
• At least five years of experience in an insurance billing or bookkeeping position.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support commercial billing staff by providing day-to-day guidance, technical assistance, training, performance evaluations, and supervision.
• Facilitate accurate and timely insurance claim submissions and help resolve billing or processing issues that impact reimbursement.
• Monitor unpaid and denied claims, review appeals, approve commercial refund requests, and communicate appeal status to the Director of Insurance Billing.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date reporting on insurance billing, processing timelines, verifications, pre-certifications, denials, and payments.
• Audit staff reports related to claim denials and non-payments to identify issues and support timely follow-up.
• Analyze payment patterns for contracted insurance companies and out-of-network reimbursements, reporting findings quarterly to help inform contracting decisions.
• Review receivable accounts and assist with recommendations regarding collections, write-offs, and reimbursements.
• Evaluate quarterly workload reports and adjust commercial billing staff assignments based on results.
• Promote department and organizational goals by communicating strategic direction, encouraging team participation, and supporting the successful implementation of change and new ideas.
• Provide effective leadership through open communication, collaborative problem-solving, employee development, and appropriate management of challenging team situations.
