We are seeking a Billing Specialist I - Remote, responsible for the timely review and submission of medical claims to insurance companies from a variety of providers and clinics. Knowledge of all aspects of the financial process, including scheduling, billing, and collections, is essential.
This role supports the Great Lakes region. All candidates are encouraged to apply. Preferred candidates will have knowledge of Southwest payer systems and office administrative experience.

Your Impact

• Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness promptly
• Obtain missing information to ensure accurate and timely claims submission
• Understand insurance rules and guidelines, such as Medicare and Medicaid
• Follow billing guidelines, policies, and procedures
• Identify the correct party to bill, such as insurance or patient
• Complete all billing checklists prior to submission
• Perform follow-up activities to gather documentation in a timely manner
• Communicate effectively with clinic personnel and insurance companies
• Ensure necessary documentation is included or coordinate with clinics to update records
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a medical office setting
• Experience with EMR systems (NextGen and/or OnBase)
• Spanish language skills
• Knowledge of DME/Orthotic products

Pay range: $20.00 to $24.00/hour + benefits + annual bonus (up to 5%). Salary varies based on skills, location, and other factors.
