Job description

Position Overview

The Billing Specialist enters medical, mental health, and addiction charges for all NARANW facilities by auditing authorizations, diagnoses, copayments, payment allocation, insurance options, and coverage eligibility. The role researches and resolves denied and rejected insurance claims, processes payments and refunds, and handles all related billing tasks.

What You Will Do
  • Follow up on outstanding insurance A/R accounts.
  • Review EOBs, research, and resubmit claims.
  • Verify eligibility using online sites.
  • Enter tickets and review associated reports.
  • Record traceable notes on work tickets.
  • Bill secondary carriers.
  • Direct work to a specific batch for processing.
  • File batches.
  • Process bad debt write‑off tickets.
  • Submit and file claims to DSHS.
  • Train on new and updated internal and external systems and databases.
  • Execute other revenue‑cycle projects and tasks as requested.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (required).
  • Minimum of 1 year medical office billing experience (required).
  • Medical Billing Certificate (preferred).
  • Familiarity with CPT, ICD‑10, and HCPCS (preferred).
  • Proficiency in practice management software, Athena Practice (previously Centricity) (preferred).
  • Experience with OHP, Medicare, and managed health care.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Basic math and general accounting procedures.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in data entry and management.
  • Ability to use a 10‑key and type 35 words per minute.
  • Ability to use a multi‑line phone.
  • Ability to complete documentation in accordance with governmental regulations, laws, and NARANW policies and best practices.
  • Pass a pre‑employment drug test.
  • Pass a criminal background and DMV check.
