Overview

CareRing Health is seeking a Billing Specialist who is outcome-oriented, has strong prioritization skills, and a knack for numbers. Preference for an associate’s degree in accounting or a related field, with experience in collections, invoicing, and/or accounts receivable.

Responsibilities

1. Generate and submit billing for homecare visits and ensure collection and posting of payments and adjustments.
2. Ensure successful entry of all medical visits into the practice management EHR Medical Billing System.
3. Reconcile charges and data entered into the system, assuring 100% data entry accuracy, correct provider, medical service, and coding.
4. Collect accounts receivable from various revenue sources, including Medicaid, MCO programs, Medicare, Medicare Advantage, insurance, and patient responsibilities.
5. Appeal, troubleshoot, prepare denied claims for rebilling, and correct unpaid claims for re-submission daily.
6. Request and follow up on additional information needed for auditing claims and revenue reports.
7. Submit claims to insurance companies daily as necessary.
8. File all correspondence into patient charts.
9. Negotiate settlements with insurance companies and courts with the assistance of the Billing Manager.
10. Audit submitted claims daily to respond to rejections, denials, and short-pays to ensure timely collections.
11. Review and post Remittance Advice to the EHR Medical Billing System.
12. Perform adjustments within the EHR Medical Billing System according to department guidance.
13. Follow billing policy guidelines and documented procedures.
14. Demonstrate and uphold CareRing’s principles of providing quality health and human services to underserved and low-income populations in a culturally sensitive manner.
15. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• Associate’s degree preferred.
• Experience posting and balancing payments.
• Experience billing Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial health plans preferred.
• University/college degree is an asset.

Skills and Abilities:

• Accounting experience preferred but not required.
• At least 1 year of experience with collections, invoicing, and/or accounts receivable.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to analyze large data sets.
• Experience with an EHR medical billing system.
• High familiarity with AR functions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
