JOB SUMMARY:
The Billing Specialist is responsible for submission and processing of claims for all mental health services rendered at the Ruth Ellis Center. The Billing Specialist possesses an extensive knowledge of Behavioral Health CPT codes and supports the Behavioral Health team in maximizing their billing potential. This position ensures that billing submissions are timely, accurate, and reflect the scope of services provided by the Behavioral Health team. This position works closely with the Finance Department to ensure that all revenue billed by the Behavioral Health Team is recouped. This position reports data to the Integrated Health team Leads regarding current revenue goals. The Billing Specialist is responsible for the submission of Financial Status Reports (FSRs) related to current grant funding.
WHAT YOU NEED:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, Billing, or related field preferred.
- At least three (3) years’ experience with medical billing, preferably in a community mental health setting.
- In-depth knowledge of insurance billing, including Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, and behavioral health billing practices.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality protocols.
- Strong communication skills, organizational skills, and experience along with ability to connect and relate to staff, stakeholders, insurance companies, etc.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Software including Outlook, OneDrive, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
