Billing Operations Manager
GridSource is seeking a Billing Operations Manager to lead the billing analyst team within our Managed Services Division. This role owns the accuracy and timeliness of billing across multiple markets and service lines - FTTx fiber installation, Multi-Dwelling Unit (MDU), and Buried Service Wire (BSW) work - and is responsible for the people, processes, and controls that turn completed field work into correct, on-time invoices. You will lead a team of analysts, coordinate the inputs that drive each billing cycle, and build the process improvements that keep billing clean as the business grows.
What You'll Do
The Billing Operations Manager sits at the center of how GridSource gets paid. You will manage and develop a team of billing analysts, hold the line on billing accuracy, and keep multiple concurrent work streams moving so that every market bills on time. Just as important, you will improve how the work gets done - strengthening controls, closing gaps, and building repeatable processes - and report clearly and concisely to the EVP and senior leadership on billing status, risks, and results. Success means invoices that are correct the first time, billing cycles that close on schedule, and a team that gets steadily better at both.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, develop, and manage the performance of a team of billing analysts working across markets.
- Set clear standards for accuracy, turnaround, and follow-through, and hold the team to them.
- Balance and assign workload so billing deadlines are met without single points of failure.
Billing Accuracy & Controls
- Own the accuracy, completeness, and auditability of invoices across FTTx, MDU, and BSW work in multiple markets.
- Reconcile completed field work to billed amounts, and identify and resolve discrepancies before invoices go out.
- Establish and maintain the controls that prevent revenue leakage, missed billing, and avoidable customer disputes.
Multi-Workstream Coordination & On-Time Delivery
- Coordinate the inputs that drive each billing cycle – field production data, project records, and rate/contract terms – across teams and markets.
- Keep concurrent billing work streams on schedule so each market closes on time.
- Flag and clear the bottlenecks that threaten a billing deadline.
Process Improvement & Systems
- Analyze the current billing process end to end and build improvements that raise both accuracy and speed.
- Design repeatable, documented workflows and controls that scale as markets and volume grow.
- Partner with operations, finance, and systems teams to improve the tools and data behind billing.
Reporting & Executive Communication
- Provide succinct, numbers-first reporting on billing status, risks, and results to the EVP and C-suite.
- Surface issues early with a recommended course of action, not just a problem.
- Translate billing detail into the few metrics leadership needs to make decisions.
What You'll Need
Core Competencies (Required)
- Team leadership – a proven ability to lead, develop, and get results from a team.
- Billing accuracy & controls – a track record of owning correct, auditable, on-time billing and the controls behind it.
- Multi-workstream coordination – able to keep several concurrent billing streams and deadlines on track across markets.
- Process improvement & systems thinking – sees how the whole process fits together and builds durable improvements, with a continuous-improvement mindset.
- Executive communication – succinct, numbers-first communication to EVP and C-suite audiences.
Experience & Logistics
- Prior experience leading or supervising a team (required).
- Working knowledge of billing for FTTx fiber installation, MDU, and BSW work in a multi-market environment.
- Comfort working across billing/ERP systems and spreadsheets, with strong attention to detail.
- Remote role; must be available during core business hours of 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Central Time.
- Less than 10% travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in telecommunications, broadband, or construction / field-services billing.
- Experience building or overhauling a billing process, not just running one.
- Familiarity with job-costing, rate/contract structures, and production-based billing.
- Experience billing for major carriers or MSOs.
- Familiarity with billing-system implementations or reporting / BI tools.
Work Environment
- Fully remote, with required availability during 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Central Time.
- Less than 10% travel.
- Close coordination with the EVP, operations and project teams, and finance across multiple markets.
What We Offer
- Health, vision, and dental insurance
- Paid time off (PTO)
- 401(k) retirement plan
- Paid sick leave in accordance with applicable state and local laws
