Job summary

RLM Underground in Morris, IL is seeking a Billing Specialist to support accurate and timely billing for telecommunications construction projects, ensuring submitted work is properly captured, approved, and invoiced.

You will collaborate with project managers, field crews, customers, and accounting, handling utility locate requests across IL, IN, and MI, while maintaining organized records and timely communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• Experience in billing, telecommunications, underground utility construction, construction admin, or project coordination.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and ability to learn customer-specific billing and project systems.
• Detail oriented with ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Review daily production reports and supporting information for accuracy.
• Enter and maintain production data in tracking systems.
• Prepare customer billing based on production, pricing, units, and POs.
• Verify quantities, rates, codes, locations and docs before billing.
• Ensure billable work is captured within billing cycles.
• Track production from completion to invoicing.
• Identify missing or incomplete production and resolve with PM/CM.
• Research billing discrepancies and assist with corrections.
• Maintain organized billing records per project.
• Track unbilled production and aging items.
• Assist with customer billing portals and related documents.
• Communicate billing deadlines and outstanding needs to project teams.
• Assist management with billing reports and reconciliations.
• Provide additional office/operational support as needed.
