Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED plus one year of public-facing cash handling experience.
• Preferred: Associate’s Degree plus two years of cash handling and customer service experience.
• Additional education and/or experience may substitute for the above requirements.

Responsibilities

• Receive utility bill payments by mail and in person and credit to correct customer accounts.
• Maintain customer accounts and issue receipts.
• Sort, review, and balance receipts daily; prepare detailed reports of collections.
• Open new utility accounts and initiate new service; close accounts when required.
• Answer customer inquiries and concerns over the counter, via email or by telephone.
• Assist customers in resolving routine account problems including billing errors.
• Initiate meter reads and related meter work as required.
• Update and maintain the customer master file records and related reports.
