Job summary

Phoenix Technology Partners, LLC is seeking a Billing & Collections Supervisor to lead our NY billing operations. You will develop strategies, oversee invoicing, and ensure timely collections while aligning with client guidelines.

The role requires 10+ years in billing/collections in law firms, strong leadership, and mastery of legal billing systems (3E Elite preferred). You will mentor teams, report metrics to the Revenue Manager, and drive process improvements.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in billing and collections in midsize or large law firms.
• Proven track record of optimizing revenue and reducing AR cycle time.
• Minimum of 3 years in a supervisor role.
• Strong knowledge of legal billing systems and software (preferably 3E Elite).
• Demonstrated ability to implement operational and procedural improvements.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Strong leadership and communication skills; able to collaborate with attorneys, staff, and clients.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement billing and collections strategies to optimize revenue and cash flow.
• Manage the billing process including invoicing in line with client guidelines and fee arrangements.
• Build relationships across finance, practice groups, and partners.
• Ensure adequate coverage during busy periods (e.g. year-end, month-end).
• Develop or maintain billing policies to meet regulator, internal, and client requirements.
• Oversee collections to ensure prompt collection of receivables.
• Monitor client accounts to identify and address billing/collection issues proactively.
• Collaborate with attorneys and staff to resolve billing disputes and inquiries.
• Manage multiple teams with training, development and support.
• Provide reports and metrics to assess financial health with Revenues Manager.
• Maintain strong client relationships addressing billing concerns professionally.
• Lead special projects and drive process improvements.
• Stay updated with industry best practices in law firm billing and collections.
• Mentor the billing and collections team to foster high performance.
• Identify opportunities to improve billing efficiency and accuracy.
• Review and analyze billing/collection data to identify trends.
• Respond to billing and AR inquiries.
• Provide monthly unbilled time and AR status updates with reports.
