Job summary

SmartestEnergy is seeking a Billing Analyst to support monthly invoicing for retail customers and manage daily billing processes across Billing System and Salesforce CRM. This hybrid role can be based in Syracuse, NY or Houston, TX, with an anticipated base salary of $60,000–$80,000 and a potential company bonus.

You will verify rates, maintain billing curves, generate invoices, and collaborate with Sales and Account Management to ensure accurate product setup and timely payments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1-3 years of Billing/Operations experience
• Retail Energy and/or Billing experience preferred
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Proficient in MS Excel
• Experience with Salesforce, EDI, and billing systems

Responsibilities

• Verify account numbers and customer billing terms to ensure accuracy
• Generate customer invoices and review for accuracy
• Coordinate with Sales and Account Management for correct product setup
• Develop and maintain recurring billing reports and dashboards
• Analyze billing trends and variances to identify root causes
• Support billing inquiries and disputes with clear calculation support
• Participate in testing and implementation of billing-model changes
• Escalate complex issues to senior Billing resources or management
