Job summary

Family Services of the Merrimack Valley seeks a Youth Development Specialist to support youth ages 11–19 through planned groups and activities. The role emphasizes positive youth development, prevention of gang involvement, and school dropout prevention in school and community settings.

The position requires an Associate degree or equivalent experience, bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, strong facilitation and public speaking skills, and the ability to travel across Massachusetts for

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience with youth development
• Experience working with adolescents facing academic, social or family challenges
• Comfort educating on sensitive topics including sexuality and health
• Ability to travel locally throughout Massachusetts for program activities

Responsibilities

• Assist with recruitment, intake and assessments and implement curriculum and recreational activities
• Plan and co-facilitate weekly youth development groups and activities
• Deliver evidence-based curricula (e.g., Making Proud Choices, VOICES, ARISE) for ages 11–19
• Facilitate topics using PAYA and FLASH curricula in school and community settings
• Provide information and guidance on family planning, growth and development, and sexual health
• Offer ongoing case management, mentoring, and goal-oriented support
• Collaborate with school personnel and agency staff on services/referrals
• Develop and review Behavior Agreement Plans and positive rewards
• Maintain current knowledge of sexual health topics
• Provide data for agency reporting
• Perform other duties as assigned
