Maricopa County Department of Public Health is seeking a WIC Intake Specialist to be the first line of support for participants in the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program. You will determine eligibility, conduct screenings, promote breastfeeding, and educate on nutrition benefits, playing a key role in a program serving tens of thousands monthly.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in Spanish/English at an advanced proficiency level.
• Two years of public contact experience in a public health, medical services, social, or human services agency.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Assesses WIC program eligibility based on federal regulations and HANDS data entry.
• Performs administrative duties: answering phones, scheduling, check-in, and excellent customer service.
• Performs hemoglobin screenings and anthropometric measurements for women, infants, and children.
• Provides information on nutrition benefits, vendors, and how to redeem benefits.
• Informs participants of rights and obligations; documents in HANDS and uses DocuSign for consent.
• Promotes breastfeeding and provides breast pumps to participants; sanitizes pumps upon return.
• Participates in ongoing training to stay current with WIC policies, procedures, and program requirements.
