Job summary

Volunteers of America - LA seeks a dedicated employment specialist to develop individualized employment plans, conduct assessments, and provide career coaching to program participants.

You will arrange interviews, build relationships with local employers, and coordinate with Worksource Centers and veterans services to support job placement.

Meet regularly with participants, monitor progress, and document service plans to align with employment goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience in case management or as a job developer preferred.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop individualized employment plans with each participant.
• Conduct employability assessments of potential participants.
• Write detailed individualized employment plans outlining activities and community referrals.
• Develop service plans for each participant.
• Conduct comprehensive screenings and assessments with veterans.
• Draft a Service Plan that complements the Employment Plan.
• Provide career counseling and job coaching.
• Arrange interviews with employers.
• Develop and maintain working relationships with local employers.
• Develop a resource base of employers committed to giving priority hiring attention.
• Develop and coordinate linkages with job skills training resources.
• Coordinate with EDD Worksource Centers, Department of Rehabilitation, Los Angeles Unified School District, and other Veteran resources.
• Meet regularly with program participants, aiding their job search.
• Monitor and track job placement activities.
