Job Responsibilities

1. Schedule, plan, and instruct students on district and state-approved curricula in self-contained classrooms and small group settings.
2. Provide systematic instruction in English or a designated second language as appropriate to meet student needs.
3. Interact with students by speaking fluently and precisely, modeling good language and vocabulary usage in both English and a second language.
4. Conduct screenings to determine student eligibility and review/interpreting results.
5. Set high expectations and hold students accountable for their academic work.
6. Construct and conduct assessments to evaluate progress.
7. Monitor student progress, maintain records, and develop intervention strategies to ensure success; also monitor instructional effectiveness.
8. Communicate with parents and students regarding progress and encourage parental involvement.
9. Collaborate with colleagues to plan, implement, and assess lessons and student progress.
10. Consult and provide in-service to staff on bilingual education issues.
11. Participate in building and district teams or committees, providing feedback and acting as a liaison.
12. Enforce and support school policies and philosophies with students and parents.
13. Collaborate on curriculum planning and school objectives.
14. Participate in staff development and school improvement activities.
15. Maintain accurate records as required by regulations.
16. Create a safe, positive learning environment and serve as a social/emotional role model.
17. Participate in outside events such as orientations, open houses, or conferences.

Additional Information

Description: Perform functions to instruct identified students, ensuring each individual gains necessary knowledge, skills, and experiences for success in a bilingual classroom setting. This is a full-time position.

Qualifications

The candidate must hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator License with Bilingual Education Endorsement. Russian language skills are preferred.

Compensation and Benefits
