Job summary

The Providence Center is seeking a bilingual Substance Use Specialist for ACT II Team 1B (CCBHC). You will provide comprehensive assessment, treatment planning, counseling, crisis intervention, and care coordination for individuals with mental health and substance use disorders.

Responsibilities include delivering individual, group, and family counseling, developing individualized care plans, and coordinating with a multidisciplinary team to promote client-centered services.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree required; Bachelor’s preferred, field of study in Human Services or related.
  • 1–3 years of experience in substance use therapy with dually diagnosed.
  • RI licensure required: LCDP, LICSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMHC-A, LMFT, LMFT-A; CADC accepted in lieu of licensure.
  • Valid driver's license, registration, current inspection sticker and insured auto.
  • Awareness of trends in confronting substance use problems; crisis management and de-escalation skills.
  • Ability to document in electronic medical records and work with community agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling for mental health and/or substance use disorders using evidence-based practices.
  • Deliver specialty substance use services and serve as a resource to staff on substance use treatment.
  • Provide services to assigned caseload with in-person contacts in office and community settings; assist other clients across Center programs.
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments and mental status examinations; provide evaluations and monthly reporting to external agencies.
  • Identify and implement substance use treatment interventions aligned with client needs and program standards.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans with the care team, clients, and families.
  • Apply knowledge of DSM-5-TR in clinical practice.
  • Identify, assess and respond to crises and suicidality; perform crisis intervention and risk management as needed.
  • Serve as liaison between clients and community agencies to facilitate access to services.
  • Attend team meetings and case reviews; conduct home visits, school meetings, and community outreach.
  • Assist clients with daily activities and life skills, including medication management and budgeting.
  • Maintain accurate records of all client interactions; ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Travel within the community with reliable transportation as needed.
  • Attend trainings and participate in agency initiatives; support client goals and program needs.
