Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a paraprofessional to assist in educating students with disabilities under the supervision of a Special Education teacher. The role includes one-on-one tutoring, personal hygiene support, and aiding in daily living skills while following IEP plans.

The position requires a valid TASN paraprofessional license (ISBE) or equivalent qualifications, bilingual abilities, and strong communication in English and another language. CPR training may be required.

Qualifications

• Valid TASN/paraprofessional license from ISBE, obtainable after 60 college credits or paraprofessional exam.
• Good knowledge of characteristics of students with various disabilities and bilingual proficiency.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions; complete and maintain basic written reports.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction of students with disabilities under supervision of teachers.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and personal hygiene assistance as required.
• Assist with daily living skills, feeding, positioning, and classroom activities.
• Support teachers by maintaining records and accompanying students on field trips.
• Participate in training to update job-related skills.
