Job summary

Family Service League Riverhead, New York, is seeking a part-time Bilingual Spanish Social Worker to serve the Riverhead Free Library with social and emotional support, case management, short-term counseling, crisis intervention and referrals to mental health services.

The role requires a Master’s degree in Social Work or related field and at least two years of clinical experience, including work with individuals with mental illness and strong knowledge of community resources.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or related field required.
• Two years of relevant clinical experience required.
• At least one year of prior experience working with individuals with mental illness and their families required. Demonstrated knowledge of community resources is also required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of community resources and referral processing required.
• Must be able to perform suicide risk assessments and provide short term counseling.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• The Bilingual Spanish Social Worker will conduct intakes and assessments of individuals and families.
• Provide individual and family counseling.
• Co-facilitate library groups.
• The Bilingual Spanish Social Worker will assist in linking eligible clients with public benefits and assist clients with applying.
• Provide linkage to more intensive mental health services.
• The Bilingual Spanish Social Worker will provide referrals to higher levels of care.
• Provide crisis intervention, when needed.
• Document client contacts accurately and timely.
• All other duties as assigned.
