Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.

• One year experience in quantity cooking; vocational/technical training may substitute.
• Must read, write and perform mathematics for food production.
• Must demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing and understanding English.

Responsibilities

• Prepares all types of food items to meet nutritional needs per state/federal requirements.
• Operates cooking and kitchen equipment in food preparation and dishwashing.
• Cleans all kitchen areas and equipment or supervise cleaning.
• Maintains supplies for meals; notifies supervisor of needs.
• Receives and stores stock as it arrives.
• Monitors freezers/refrigerators for proper rotation (FIFO).
• Assists in meal planning, records, and reports.
• Coordinates production/serving; inspects portions and temperatures.
• Assists in distributing prepared food to satellites.
• Attends workshops on sanitation and food prep; stays updated with regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Food Service Director or superintendent.
