Job summary

The District Spanish Interpreter / Translator role in Amherst, MA provides professional interpretation and translation between district personnel and Spanish-speaking families. The position supports 10 months of the school year at 7.5 hours daily and reports to the ELL and Dual Language Coordinator, Multilingual Education Administrator.

Key duties include translating documents and IEPs, interpreting at meetings, maintaining a Spanish phone line, and coordinating language requests while upholding

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• 2+ years experience in education preferred.
• Translation/Interpretation Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Translate district documents from English to Spanish and vice versa.
• Interpret for district staff and parents at meetings and events.
• Translate IEPs, 504s and related documentation to parents.
• Interpret outside of school hours as needed.
• Collaborate with staff during parent–teacher conferences and meetings.
• Maintain Spanish phone line and translation/interpretation logs.
• Coordinate requests for interpretation across all languages and maintain the interpreter calendar.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and family records.
