New Bedford Public School District is seeking an Educational Translation & Interpretation Services Specialist to coordinate district-wide translation and interpretation needs. The role ensures multilingual access for documents, events, and communications across schools while supporting an inclusive curriculum.

The position reports to the PRAB - ED Access team and offers 40 hours per week at $28–$29 per hour, starting immediately.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience providing translation services in educational settings.
• Interpreter Certificate preferred.
• Fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, Cape Verdean Creole or Haitian Creole.
• Experience working with staff from diverse cultures.
• Strong verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate translation/interpretation requests across the district.
• Maintain translators/interpreters roster and availability.
• Schedule interpreters for schools and family events.
• Submit monthly reports and payroll-related data timely.
• Audit district materials for accuracy and translation readiness.
• Serve as emergency translator/interpret interpreter as needed.
• Ensure materials are available in multiple languages for all formats.
• Collaborate with schools and central offices to pre-translate materials.
