Job summary

New Mexico Department of Health's Population and Community Health Bureau is seeking a Dental Assistant to support the school-based prevention program. You will assist the Registered Dental Hygienist, apply sealants or fluoride varnish, manage health records, and enter data to track outcomes.

The ideal candidate will hold a high school diploma or equivalent with a Dental Assisting certificate or AS in Dental Health, and must have CPR and OSHA certifications, plus valid driver's license and

Qualifications

• Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
• Experience reporting metrics / data surveillance is preferred.
• Current CPR and OSHA certification is required.
• Experience delivering oral health education to individuals and groups.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Registered Dental Hygienist in evaluating children's teeth.
• Apply dental sealants or fluoride varnish as directed.
• Maintain health records and data entry for metrics.
• Prepare materials for sealants/varnish in collaboration with the hygienist.
• Schedule and confirm event appointments, and manage records.
• Order dental and office materials and maintain supplies.
