Job summary

Chapman University is seeking a Research Assistant for a federally funded longitudinal study examining emotion and stress factors affecting asthma management among adolescents. The role involves screening electronic medical records, recruiting participants, obtaining informed consent, coordinating and conducting interviews, and managing data.

The position requires flexibility for evenings/weekends and offers mentorship from the PI.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of prior research experience with data collection and data entry.
• Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
• Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Recruit participants
• Conduct participant assessments (surveys and interviews) per study protocol
• Manage participant flow from recruitment to study completion with scheduling and follow-up
• Assist with data management, data cleaning, and quality checks
• Set up electronic inhaler monitoring devices and troubleshoot as needed
• Assist with IRB communications and compliance
• Attend regular team meetings and one-on-ones with the PI
• Mentor undergraduate research assistants and support training
