Qualifications

• Pharmacy Assistant registration required within 60 days of hire (or active Pharmacy Intern License).
• One year of pharmacy assistant, office, administrative, patient care or customer service experience.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking skills preferred at a level 9.
• Effective verbal and listening communication skills with a customer-oriented approach.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to perform administrative tasks (phones, filing, faxing, scanning).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment.
• Basic proficiency with computer systems (Microsoft Office).
• Basic knowledge of at least one pharmacy software system.

Responsibilities

• Answers the phone and transfers calls to appropriate staff.
• Enters patient data and billing information in the system.
• Delivers prescriptions and collects payment and signature.
• Coordinates prescription counseling by the Pharmacist as needed.
• Maintains stock levels and places restocking orders.
• Verifies product orders against invoices and places items on shelves.
• Monitors expiration dates on drugs in stock.
• Processes refills and prior authorization as allowed by state regulations.
• Performs duties aligned with Joint Commission and HRSA requirements.
