Job summary

UNLV Health is seeking an Authorization and Referral Specialist to efficiently process referrals and authorization requests, submit them timely, schedule follow ups, and track referrals by program and payer with accuracy and courtesy. Qualifications include bilingual English/Spanish, at least two years in medical front office, knowledge of health plans, CPT/ICD codes, and strong computer and typing skills.

Qualifications

• Two years in the medical field to include front office, appointment scheduling and referral authorization.
• Must be bilingual English/Spanish.
• Knowledge of health plans, eligibility and guidelines.
• Demonstrated ability to read, write and speak English.
• Demonstrated ability to use a computer.
• Minimum typing speed of 35 wpm.
• Experience with the Seriously Mentally Ill population preferred.
• Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT billing codes a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process referrals and authorization requests in a timely manner.
• Submit, schedule and follow up on treatment authorizations as required by payer.
• Track referrals by program and payer with accuracy.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, staff and the public.
