Job summary

Oregon Department of Human Services in North Bend, OR is seeking a bilingual Public Benefits Specialist (Entry) to serve as the first point of contact and assist customers with medical, food, cash, and childcare program applications.

You will work in a fast-paced office, handling information gathering, data entry, and providing accurate case updates. Successful applicants receive a 5% bilingual differential pay after testing, with standard hours 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in Spanish and English required.
• Two years of experience in a reception area or call center with high-volume work.
• Associate degree in a Behavioral Science, Social Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for customers entering the office or by telephone.
• Assist customers applying for medical, cash, SNAP, childcare, and related programs.
• Obtain initial information and provide status updates on cases.
• Support daily office operations and document procedures and policies.
• Coordinate internal communication and utilize computer programs to track customer details.
